Das neu entstehende Wohngebiet rings um die heutige Albert-Schweizer-Straße sollte eine Plastik zur künstlerischen Aufwertung der Wohnqualität erhalten. Der beauftragte Künstler entschied sich für einen Storchenbrunnen als Symbold des Lebens, abgeformt in Kunststein und 3,60m hoch. Heute befindet sich die Brunnenanlage in Privatbesitz und einem erbarmungswürdigen, nach Restaurierung geradezu schreienden Zustand, wie die bis 2004/2005 umgebenden Wohnhäuser, die inzwischen der Abrissbirne zum Opfer fielen und noch fallen werden. Welch ein Negativum! Nicht einmal eine pflegende Hand findet sich mehr für das einstige Wahrzeichen an der Dresdner Straße mit dem Windberg im Hintergrund.
